TRAINING PROGRAMS AVAILABLE:
Survival Spanish for School Administrators, Teachers, and Support
Staff - This program is designed to provide functional Spanish language skills
for school personnel who have occasional contact with Spanish-speaking students and visitors. It also includes extensive training
for non-Spanish-speaking classroom teachers who have Spanish-speaking children in their classroom. No prior knowledge of Spanish
necessary.
Meeting the Needs of Hispanic Students: Cross-Cultural Training
for Schools - This manual covers such topics as demographics, literacy and language issues,
social, cultural, and educational differences and experiences, ideas for successful educational programming, and appropriate
classroom techniques to help Hispanic students reach their goals and be successful in the U.S. educational process. The appendices
contain additional information which may be included for more specific training for math, literature, and history / social
studies teachers.
Spanish for Child Care Facilities
- This program is designed to provide functional Spanish language skills for child care facility personnel who have contact
with Spanish-speaking parents and children. The program utilizes phonetic encoding to address the most important Spanish commands,
questions, and phrases critical to child care facilities. No prior knowledge of Spanish necessary.
Spanish for Library Staff - This program
provides immediate access to functional language skills for non-Spanish-speaking library staff who have a need to communicate
with Spanish-speaking library patrons. The language component utilizes phonetic encoding to address the most important Spanish
commands, questions, and phrases pertinent to daily interactions. No prior knowledge of Spanish necessary.
